Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Max, this week I spent Tuesday through Sunday with you all day and all night since you were up frequently from being sick. I also flew to and from Dallas with you *alone* with lots of luggage (it was your grandfather's 60th birthday). While I did enjoy moments of our time together, it came to my attention that you are VERY needy ;)

I received the phone call from daycare on Tuesday afternoon that you were being unruly because you did not feel well. An hour later, I realized what they meant and spent the next 3 days not being able to leave your side for more than a moment lest you would throw a fit. We spent these days playing and sleeping and getting very little professional or house work done (sorry Doug). The plane rides were even worse - you would howl at the top of your lungs when I would not let you feed the huge guy in the seat next to us or get down and play with the ladies shoe laces across the aisle. Usually I can calm you and quiet you by sticking a boob in your mouth, but even that had its limits. I finally just let you crawl up and down the plane touching god knows what kinds of disgusting bacteria and putting your hands in your mouth (and in mine). If I develop some weird disease, I will know who to blame.

BUT, today I took you straight to daycare when we arrived into town and low and behold I had this strange LONELY feeling. I continuously found myself checking the clock to see if it was close to 5pm so I could come get you. At the daycare, I was so excited when I first caught sight of you in the window and my cold heart melted a little when I saw your beautiful, devilish grin awaiting me at the door. I couldn't wait to hold you and play with you and search for any new tricks you may have picked up just in the last day.

You may be needy, but I guess it makes me feel good to be needed - at least in moderation! I suppose a little absence does make the heart grow fonder. I'll miss you tomorrow at daycare.

Today you bit me

Max, I'm sorry to say but your breastfeeding days are coming to an end. Your little tooth has inflicted much pain since you bit me while breastfeeding an hour ago. I realize that you believe these boobs were invented for you and you alone - they are yours to eat from, chew on and play with (yes, the titty twisters are not fun for me either), but I am here to say, "No more little man"... they are MINE! Not that I want them anymore at this point. These udders have been pulled and prodded one too many times. They look like a deflated and knobby version of themselves. Plastic surgery, here we come.

You are lucky I love you as much as I do.

Today you also pooped on your grandmother's newly cleaned carpets. I told her that you rolled over while I was changing your diaper, but really I just gave up trying to get a diaper on you and let you sit on the ground naked. That's when you did it - you worked one out and then changed location and worked on another one doing double damage to the carpet. I, of course, took the brunt of the anger and frustration of GranaLynn for you... ahhhh, the sacrifices I make.
